早型盘星系的大尺度外环

摘要
我们通过检查近期 Spitzer 星表 ARRAKIS (Comeron et al. 2014) 中一个具有代表性的邻近环星系样本，搜寻了早型盘星系 (S0-Sb) 外恒星环中当前恒星形成的存在。我们发现，规则环 (R 型) 在约一半的情况下显示出年龄小于 2 亿年的年轻星族，而在仅存在于旋涡星系中的伪环 (开放环, R') 中，当前的恒星形成几乎总是存在。
