KamLAND对前超新星恒星中微子的灵敏度

摘要
在大质量恒星()核燃烧的晚期,通过各种过程产生中微子-反中微子对成为主导的恒星冷却机制。随着恒星演化,这些中微子的能量增加,在超新星前数日,发射的电子反中微子中显著部分超过自由氢上逆β衰变的能量阈值。这是液体闪烁体探测器的黄金通道,因为符合特征允许显著减少背景信号。我们发现kiloton级液体闪烁体探测器KamLAND能够在超新星之前以3显著性探测来自质量、距离小于690~pc的恒星的这些前超新星中微子。该极限依赖于中微子质量顺序和背景水平。KamLAND连续获取数据,可向学界提供超新星警报。
