在 Diaconescu-Hanany-Witten-Witten (DHWW) 方法中,非平凡拓扑的五膜与低能有效作用的 Seiberg-Witten (SW) 理论相关联。存在两种不同的“图像”,分别与 M 理论的 IIA 和 IIB 相有关。它们的区别在于五膜世界体上的 理论的选择。在 IIB 图像中,它正是 6d SUSY Yang-Mills,而在 IIA 图像中,它是 SUSY 自对偶 2-形式理论。这两种图像似乎分别能够描述(非阿贝尔)Lax 算符与(阿贝尔)低能有效作用。因此 IIB-IIA 对偶性与 Hitchin 和 Whitham 可积结构之间的对偶性相关。
