信息论被用于对非平衡各向异性辐射进行热力学研究。我们将分析限制在矩的二阶截断，得到一个分布函数，该函数在所谓的可变Eddington因子方案中自然地闭合了辐射传输方程的层级。文献中出现的一些Eddington因子可以作为我们双参数Eddington因子的特例被恢复。我们重点关注此类系统的热力学性质，并将其与近期非平衡热力学理论联系起来。最后，我们讨论了引入光子非平衡化学势的可能性。
