摘要
对无中微子双贝塔衰变的研究探究了中微子的基本性质,包括中微子与反中微子是否不同。双贝塔探测器体积大且昂贵,因此降低本底对于获得最高灵敏度至关重要。对来自 Xe 双贝塔衰变产生的 Ba 子原子进行识别或“标记”,为在 nEXO 无中微子双贝塔衰变实验中消除本底提供了一种技术。本工作所研究的标记方案利用低温探针将钡原子捕获在固态氙中,并通过固态氙矩阵中的荧光成像对钡原子进行标记。在此,我们通过在沉积于蓝宝石窗口上的固态氙矩阵上扫描聚焦激光,展示了对固态氙中单个钡原子的成像与计数。当激光停留在单个原子上时,荧光持续约 30~s 后骤降至本底水平,这清晰确认了单原子成像。在钡沉积物蒸发后,钡荧光持续存在至 0.16\% 的极限以下。这是首次在固态惰性元素中成像单原子。它确立了 nEXO 中钡标记技术的基本原理。
