恒星系统 Terzan 5 方向的高分辨率红化图

我们利用哈勃空间望远镜获取的光学图像，构建了银河系内核中一个特殊恒星系统 Terzan 5 方向上的首张高分辨率消光图。该图的空间分辨率为 8" × 8"，总视场 (FoV) 为 200" × 200"。吸收云在约 20"的典型尺度上显示出斑块状结构，消光变化幅度高达 mag，尤其是在系统中心方向。这对应于从 mag 到 2.82 mag 的绝对色余。在对差分红化进行校正后，Terzan 5 的颜色 - 星等图中清晰地显现出两条不同的红巨星支，它们很好地对应于最近在该系统中发现的具有不同铁丰度的两个子群。
