Rolf Landauer对科学的许多分支做出了重要贡献。在无序介质输运的广泛领域内，他撰写了关于宏观非均匀材料中电导的开创性论文，以及对原子尺度无序的量子力学系统中电子输运的基础性分析。我们在此回顾其中的一些贡献。我们还简要描述了他个人和科学生涯中的一些主要事件。
