我们展示了赫歇尔-SPIRE对室女星系团中受扰星系NGC4438的观测。这些图像揭示了距离星系盘约4-5千秒差距处存在盘外尘埃。尘埃紧密跟随被剥离的原子和分子氢的分布,支持了气体和尘埃以类似方式受到星系团环境扰动的观点。有趣的是,与仍存在于盘中的物质相比,盘外尘埃缺乏暖温成分,这解释了为何之前的远红外研究未能探测到它。我们的研究为星系团中的尘埃剥离提供了证据,并展示了赫歇尔数据对于我们理解环境对星系演化的影响的潜力。
