本文首先简要回顾了旋转相对论恒星的稳定性问题，随后详细讨论最近关于r模式不稳定性的最新研究进展。r模式是指在慢旋转极限下具有轴向奇偶性的旋转恒星模式。这些模式可能主导出生时快速旋转的中子星的减速过程，以及它们辐射的引力波可能被探测到。
