如果上帝不存在，人类也会创造出一个。人类文明的发展需要促进合作与社会秩序的机制。其中一种机制基于这样的理念：我们所做的一切都被上帝看见并评判——恶行将受惩罚，善行将得奖赏。信息时代如今激发了这样一个梦想：人类可以创造出具有上帝般全知全能的存在。
