我们正在开发通过首先预报未来海表温度（SST）然后应用 SST 与飓风数量之间观测到的统计关系来预测未来飓风数量的方案。作为这一总体目标的一部分，在本研究中我们比较了三种用于制作五年 SST 预报的简单统计方法的历史表现。我们还使用这些方法给出了 2006–2010 年的 SST 预报，并将其与由两个结构时间序列模型做出的预报进行比较。
