RED-100 是一台用于研究反应堆电子反中微子与氙原子核相干弹性散射的两相探测器。该探测器在钛低温恒温器中总共装有 200 kg 液氙,其中 160 kg 氙位于特氟龙制成的光收集笼内的有效体积中,并与电极系统相连。有效体积由两组各十九个 3 英寸直径 Hamamatsu R11410-20 光电倍增管(PMT)从顶部和底部两平面进行观测。电极系统配备电子快门(一项专利设备)以降低“自发”单电子噪声。该探测器在地面实验室进行了测试。所得结果表明,利用 RED-100 探测器在卡林核电站探测反应堆反中微子与氙核的相干弹性散射是可行的,阈值为 4 个电离电子。
