等离子体中不同等离子体密度下质子束团调制的实验观测

摘要
我们给出了相对论性质子束团在穿过稠密等离子体传播时完整横向自调制观测的直接实验证据。束团离开等离子体时带有密度调制,该调制由径向尾场效应产生,其周期与等离子体频率成反比。我们表明,该调制是通过使用与质子束团共传播的强激光脉冲来播种的,该脉冲在束团内产生相对论性电离前沿。我们通过将等离子体密度改变一个数量级,表明调制周期随等离子体密度按预期依赖关系缩放。
