相对论性粒子束在等离子体中的不稳定性与种子自调制之间的转变

摘要
我们利用相对论性电离前沿为长质子束在等离子体中的自调制提供不同的初始横向尾场振幅。我们通过实验表明,在足够的初始振幅( MV/m)下,沿束流的调制相位在事件间是可复现的,沿整个束流的 rms 变化为 3% 至 7%(相对于 2)。对于较低的初始振幅,相位不可复现。我们观测到了这两种机制之间的转变。相位可复现性对于确定性的外部粒子注入加速至关重要。
