Euclid:早期释放观测透镜搜索实验

我们研究了Euclid望远镜探测星系尺度引力透镜的能力。为此,我们对朝向英仙团方向的0.7 deg² Euclid早期释放观测数据进行了系统性的人工视觉检查,同时使用高分辨率I_E波段和较低分辨率的Y_E、J_E、H_E波段。每个在I_E波段亮度超过23星等的延展源均由41名专家人工分类器进行检查,共计12086个10″×10″的图像块。我们找到了3个A类和13个B类候选体。我们通过建模评估了这16个候选体的有效性,并检验其是否与单一源被合理质量分布透镜化的结果一致。其中5个候选体通过了检验,5个被建模排除,6个无法确定。基于成功建模的5个候选体,我们推断完整的14000 deg² Euclid宽场巡天应包含约100000^{+70000}_{-30000}个既可通过视觉检查发现又具有有效透镜模型的星系-星系透镜。这与Euclid中约1.7×10⁵个可发现星系-星系透镜的理论预言一致。我们五个建模透镜的爱因斯坦半径在0.″68 < θ_E < 1.″24范围内,但与理论预言相比其爱因斯坦半径分布偏大,这表明我们的方法可能遗漏了小爱因斯坦半径系统。虽然对完整的Euclid数据集进行人工视觉检查是不现实的,但我们的结果证实了Euclid最终将提供约10⁵个星系尺度透镜样本的前景。
