欧几里得:早期释放观测——珀尔修斯星系团中的矮星系

摘要

我们利用欧几里得对珀尔修斯星系团的早期释放观测前所未有的深度、空间分辨率和视场,探测并表征了这个大质量系统中的矮星系群。对欧几里得高分辨率VIS和VIS+NIR彩色图像进行了目视检查,识别出矮星系候选体。目视评估了它们的形态、核的存在以及球状星团(GC)丰富度,并辅以GC候选体的自动探测。通过二维拟合提取了结构和测光参数,包括欧几里得滤光片颜色。基于此分析,在图像中共发现1100个矮星系候选体,其中638个似乎是新识别。大多数(96%)被归类为矮椭球星系,53%有核,26%富含GC,6%显示受扰动的形态。相对较高比例(8%)的星系被归类为超弥散星系。大多数矮星系遵循预期的标度关系。总体而言,珀尔修斯矮星系的球状星团比频率S_N介于室女座星系团和后发座星系团测量值之间。虽然拥有最多GC计数的矮星系遍布欧几里得视场,但那些位于东西向条带(大多数最亮星系团成员所在处)附近的矮星系平均具有更大的S_N值。矮星系、GC和星系团内光的空间分布显示,一个主要等密度/等光强中心偏离明亮星系光分布向西。珀尔修斯星系团的ERO成像展示了欧几里得同时探测和表征大量矮星系、其核及其GC系统的独特能力,使我们能够构建一个关于星系在广泛质量尺度和环境中形成与演化的详细图景。
