β衰变中布居的中子未束缚态的增强伽马射线发射

摘要

总吸收谱学被用于研究87,88Br和94Rb中β衰变到中子分离能以上态并伴随伽马射线发射的强度。由于对系统误差的仔细控制获得了准确结果。在所有三种情况中均观测到出乎意料的大伽马强度,其延伸远超中子穿透因低中子能量受阻的激发能区。将伽马分支比作为激发能量的函数与Hauser-Feshbach模型计算进行比较。对于87Br和88Br,伽马分支比分别达到57%和20%,可解释为核结构效应。子核中布居的某些态只能通过发射大轨道角动量中子衰变,其势垒穿透性强烈降低。对于丰中子94Rb,观测到的4.5%分支比较之用标准核统计模型参数进行的计算大得多,即便在对单个跃迁宽度的涨落效应进行适当修正后仍是如此。该差异可通过引入光子强度与中子强度比增强一个数量级来调和。如果证实正确,极丰中子核中光子强度函数如此幅度的增加会导致(n,gamma)截面类似增加,从而影响r过程丰度计算。
