利用 JWST NIRSpec G395H 对系外行星 WASP-39b 的早期释放科学观测

测量系外行星大气中碳和氧的丰度被视为揭示系外行星系统形成与演化的关键途径。获取系外行星的化学清单需要高精度观测,通常从低分辨率天基和高分辨率地基设施对单个分子的探测来推断。在此,我们报告了利用 JWST NIRSpec G395H 获得的土星质量系外行星 WASP-39b 在 3–5 μm 之间覆盖多个吸收特征的中分辨率(R∼600)透射光谱。我们的观测达到了 1.46 倍光子精度,每个光谱 bin 的平均凌星深度不确定度为 221 ppm,且系统效应的影响极小。我们探测到来自 CO₂(28.5σ)和 H₂O(21.5σ)的显著吸收,并确定 SO₂ 为 4.1 μm 处吸收的来源(4.8σ)。最佳拟合大气模型的金属丰度为太阳的 3 至 10 倍,C/O 比介于亚太阳到太阳之间。这些结果,包括 SO₂ 的探测,强调了表征系外行星大气化学的重要性,并展示了 NIRSpec G395H 作为该关键波长范围内时间序列观测的优异模式。
