利用 JWST NIRISS 对系外行星 WASP-39b 的早期释放科学观测

摘要

透射光谱可洞察凌星系外行星的大气性质,进而揭示其形成历史、物理与化学。然而,从透射光谱精确推断大气性质需要同时测量来自广泛化学物种的多个光谱吸收特征的强度和形状。鉴于先前观测台精度和波长覆盖的局限,这一直具有挑战性。在此,我们呈现利用 JWST 上 NIRISS 仪器的 SOSS 模式获得的土星质量系外行星 WASP-39b 的透射光谱。该光谱波长跨度为 0.6–2.8 μm,揭示了多个水吸收带、钾共振双线以及云的迹象。NIRISS-SOSS 的精度和宽波长覆盖使我们能够打破云性质与 WASP-39b 大气成分之间的模型简并,倾向于重元素增丰(“金属丰度”)为太阳值的约 10–30×、亚太阳碳氧(C/O)比,以及太阳到超太阳的钾氧(K/O)比。观测最好由波长依赖、非灰云及其对行星终晨线不均匀覆盖来解释。
