顶夸克质量的直接测量

摘要
我们利用Fermilab Tevatron在125 pb^-1曝光下通过root(s) = 1.8 TeV的p pbar对撞在D0探测器中产生的t tbar对来测量顶夸克质量m_t。我们对t tbar --> b W^+ bbar W^-末态中的m_t进行了双约束拟合，其中一个W衰变为q qbar，另一个衰变为e nu或mu nu。事例按拟合质量与事例为信号而非背景的概率量度进行分箱。对数据的似然拟合得出m_t = 173.3 +- 5.6 (统计) +- 6.2 (系统) GeV/c^2。
