CUBES:面向未来的紫外光谱仪

尽管极大型望远镜在UV/光学/NIR波段已然出现,当前一代8-10米设施在可预见的未来于地基紫外波长上仍可能保持竞争力。卡塞格林U波段高效光谱仪(CUBES)被设计用于在近紫外(305-400 nm为要求,300-420 nm为目标)以高于20,000的光谱分辨本领提供高效率(>40%)观测,尽管也计划了 R~7,000 的较低分辨率、受天空限制的模式。CUBES将在天体物理诸多领域提供新可能,可获取恒星光谱关键谱线:极为多样的铁峰与重元素、较轻元素(特别是铍)及轻元素分子(CO、CN、OH),以及巴耳末线和巴耳末跳变(对年轻恒星天体尤为重要)。紫外波段在河外研究中亦关键:遥远星系的环星系介质、不同源类对宇宙紫外背景的贡献、在相对透明星系际介质 regime 下 H2 与原始氘的测量,以及爆发暂现源的后续观测。CUBES项目于2021年6月完成A阶段概念设计,现已进入致力于详细设计与建造的B阶段。首次科学观测计划于2028年。本文中,我们简要描述CUBES项目的发展与目标、主要科学案例、仪器设计以及项目组织与管理。
