本文报道利用意大利LNGS的Borexino探测器采集的3262.74天数据进行的地球中微子测量。通过观测来自U和Th的个地球中微子(68%区间),获得了 TNU的信号,总精度为%。该结果假设与球粒CI陨石中相同的Th/U质量比,但当将U和Th的贡献作为自由参数拟合时也发现了兼容的结果。反应堆的反中微子本底未加约束地拟合,发现与预期兼容。在利用本地地壳知识时,观测到来自地幔的信号的零假设在99.0%置信水平被排除。测得的地幔信号为 TNU,对应于地幔中U和Th产生的放射性热为 TW (68%区间)。假设地幔中K贡献为18%且岩石圈放射性热为 TW,Borexino对地球总放射性热的估计为 TW,对应于0.78的对流尤里比。这些值与不同的地质模型兼容,然而与预测热产生元素浓度最低的那些模型存在2.4张力。通过对反应堆反中微子本底施加约束拟合数据,排除了地球中心存在功率大于2.4 TW的假想地球反应堆(95%置信水平)。特别关注了所有分析细节,这对下一代地球中微子测量应具有参考价值。
