卫星星座构想:保护暗静天空免受有害干扰的呼吁

摘要

低轨道(LEO)卫星星座的数量不断增加,增强了全球通信和地球观测,支持太空商业是许多国家的高优先级。同时,LEO卫星星座的增长对天文观测和研究以及暗静天空的保存产生负面影响。这些卫星星座反射阳光照射到光学望远镜,其无线电发射影响射电观测站,危及我们通过天文学获取关键科学发现的能力。天空的变化视觉外观也影响我们的文化遗产和环境。地面观测站和LEO的太空望远镜都受到影响,鉴于其全球性质,地球上没有任何地方能够逃避卫星星座的影响。 minimally扰动的暗静天空对进行天文学基本研究以及重要公共服务(如行星防御、技术发展和高精度定位)至关重要。一些卫星部署和运行方面由国家和国际组织规管。尽管一些国家的监管机构已开始要求运营商与其国家天文机构协调影响,但太空对象的天文活动影响的缓解并不充分受到规制。为此,CPS呼吁国家和国际社会采取措施,保护暗静天空如本文所述。
