摘要
自然图像的自动描述生成是一个具有挑战性的问题，近来受到计算机视觉与自然语言处理领域的广泛关注。本综述根据现有方法对该问题的概念化方式对其进行分类，即把描述视为生成问题或视为在视觉或多模态表示空间上的检索问题的模型。我们详细回顾了现有模型，指出其优缺点。此外，我们概述了用于评估机器生成图像描述质量的基准图像数据集与评估指标。最后，我们展望了自动图像描述生成领域的未来方向。
