摘要
船底座大星云为理解典型的巨HII区和星暴星系中剧烈的恒星形成和反馈提供了绝佳的视角。我们利用存档的钱德拉数据和钱德拉X射线天文台先进CCD成像光谱仪的20个新的60千秒指向的镶嵌图,在X射线波段绘制了船底座恒星形成复合体的图谱,作为理解近期和正在进行的恒星形成以及探测船底座明亮弥散X射线发射区域的试验平台。这项研究产生了超过14,000个X射线点源的属性星表;其中超过9800个具有多波段对应体。利用钱德拉无与伦比的X射线空间分辨率,我们将这些点源与遍布该区域的广泛、空间复杂的弥散发射区分开来;这种弥散发射的X射线特性表明它追踪了船底座大质量恒星的反馈。在这篇导论性论文中,我们阐述了巡天设计的动机,描述了钱德拉的观测,并展示了一些简单的结果,为随后在本特刊中发表的15篇论文奠定了基础,这些论文将介绍详细的星表、方法和科学结果。
