一颗极低密度且温和的巨行星

摘要

凌星系外行星是研究行星系统形成、迁移与演化的关键对象。特别是,通过透射光谱或直接成像对巨行星大气的探测,揭示了其在化学组成与物理性质上的高度多样性。研究这些巨行星有助于检验用于地球及其他太阳系行星的全局气候模型。然而,此类研究大多局限于强辐照的凌星巨行星或位于大分离距离处直接成像的巨行星。本文报道了一个明亮多行星系统(HIP41378)中行星的物理表征,其中外侧行星HIP41378 f是一颗土星大小的行星(9.2 ±\pm 0.1 R_\oplus),其密度异常低,为 0.09 ±\pm 0.02 g cm3^{-3},目前尚不清楚原因。其平衡温度约为300 K。因此,它代表了一颗温度温和的行星,介于热木星与太阳系中较冷的巨行星之间。它为中等辐照巨行星的大气表征开启了新的窗口,可借助下一代空间望远镜(如JWST和ARIEL)以及极大地面望远镜实现。因此,HIP41378 f是理解辐照对行星大气物理性质与化学组成影响的重要实验室。
