利用初等方法，我们定义并推导了梯形法则和复合梯形法则的一种特定加权平均，并表明该近似及其复合形式在计算上是直接的。该近似及其复合形式在其一般形式中被证明具有可预测的误差模式；因此，可以使用外推法来提高精度。随后，我们推导了使用外推法所需的权重，以减少误差并比 Romberg 积分更快地收敛，从而用更少的必要子区间实现更高的精度。接着仔细描述了实施这种替代方法所需的步骤，并给出了两个示例。
