AGILE探测到GRB 080514B的延迟伽马射线发射

摘要
GRB 080514B是自EGRET时代以来,首次使用对湮灭跟踪望远镜探测到能量高于几十MeV的单个光子的伽马射线暴(GRB)。该暴是由意大利AGILE伽马射线卫星发现的。通过AGILE与行星际网络(IPN)的合作,对该暴进行了定位。在SuperAGILE-IPN定位之前获得的伽马射线成像仪(GRID)位置估计,被发现与暴的位置一致。SuperAGILE观测到的硬X射线发射持续了约7秒,而有证据表明,高于30 MeV的发射持续时间更长(至少约13秒)。过去从EGRET观测到的其他几个GRB中也看到了类似的行为。然而,后者的测量在最亮阶段受到仪器死时间效应的影响,只能得到暴强度的下限。得益于AGILE/GRID的小死时间,我们能够确定,在GRB 080514B的情况下,伽马射线与X射线通量比在瞬时发射阶段和延展发射阶段之间发生了显著变化。
