单个快速射电暴被定位到宇宙学距离上的大质量星系

摘要
快速射电暴(FRB)是来自遥远天文源的短暂射电辐射。已知部分 FRB 会重复爆发,但大多数为单次爆发。非重复 FRB 的观测定位精度此前不足以将其定位到单个宿主星系。我们报告了对单脉冲 FRB 180924 的干涉测量定位,其位置距离一个红移 0.3214 的明亮星系中心 4 kpc。该爆发未被观测到重复。该爆发及其宿主的性质与唯一另一个被精确定位的 FRB 源显著不同。沿视线方向的积分电子柱密度与星系际介质模型高度吻合,表明部分 FRB 是探测宇宙网重子成分的纯净探针。
