棒旋星系中复杂磁化环境下的快速射电暴源

快速射电暴(FRBs)是高度色散的毫秒级射电爆发。近期对一个银河系内FRB的观测表明,至少部分FRB起源于磁星,但宇宙学距离FRB的起源仍无定论。本文报道在54天内82小时中对重复源FRB~20201124A探测到的1863次爆发。这些观测显示,在前36天单个爆发的法拉第旋转量(RM,用于探测视线方向上的密度加权磁场强度)存在不规则的短时变化,随后RM保持恒定。我们在超过一半的爆发样本中探测到圆偏振,其中一次爆发的圆偏振分数高达75%。我们探测到分数线偏振与圆偏振以及偏振角随波长变化的振荡。所有这些特征为源周围约一个天文单位(au;日地距离)内复杂、动态演化的磁化紧邻环境提供了证据。我们对宿主星系的光学观测显示其为一个银河系大小、富金属的棒旋星系,FRB源位于星系中间半径处、恒星密度较低的旋臂间区域。该环境不符合由大质量恒星极端爆炸(产生长伽马射线暴或超亮超新星)形成的年轻磁星引擎。
