早期星系发出的紫外光被认为使星系际介质中的气体电离。然而,由于这些星系的微弱以及其光学光红移至红外波段,对这一时期的观测约束很少。我们在 JWST 成像中报告了对一个由引力透镜放大的遥远星系的观测。该星系在静止系光学波段的 JWST 光谱探测到了可归因于氧和氢的强星云发射线。测得的红移为 z = 9.51 +- 0.01,对应于大爆炸后 5.1 亿年。该星系的半径为 16.2+4.6-7.2 秒差距,比 z = 6 至 8 处具有等效光度的星系要致密得多,从而导致了高产星率面密度。
