最初十亿年内超大质量星系的加速形成

摘要

近期的 JWST 观测揭示了早期宇宙中数量出乎意料的大质量星系候选体,其红移延伸更远、光度低于此前亚毫米巡天所发现者。这些 JWST 候选体被解释为对 Λ\LambdaCDM 宇宙学的挑战,但迄今主要仅依赖静止系紫外数据,且缺乏红移的光谱确认。在此我们报道对来自 JWST FRESCO 巡天的 36 个具有 zspec=59z_{\rm spec}=5-9 光谱红移的大质量尘埃遮蔽星系的系统研究。我们发现样本与 Λ\LambdaCDM 模型无张力。然而,三个超大质量星系(logM/MM_{\star}/M_{\odot} 11.0\gtrsim11.0)需要高达 50% 的重子转化为恒星的异常比例——比即便后期最高效的星系也要高出两到三倍。活动星系核的贡献不太可能,因其延展发射。超大质量星系在 z56z\sim5-6 时占总宇宙恒星形成率密度的比例高达 17%。
