本文研究了高斯信道中比特交织编码调制（BICM）的宽带域特性。推导了低信噪比（SNR）下通用信号星座编码调制容量的泰勒展开式，并用于确定 BICM 容量的相应展开式。给出了每比特最小能量和宽带斜率的简单公式。研究发现 BICM 是次优的，因为其每比特最小能量可能大于编码调制方案的相应值。使用标准 Gray 映射在 M-PAM 或 M^2-QAM 上的每比特最小能量由一个简单公式给出，并显示随着 M 的增加趋近于 -0.34 dB。利用低 SNR 展开式，通过宽带域中功率与带宽的一般权衡，展示了如何用功率损失换取带宽增益。
