耀变体 BL Lacertae 爆发期间的 X 射线偏振

摘要

我们报告了在 BL Lacertae 中首次以 >99%> 99\% 置信度探测到的 X 射线偏振。在近期的一次 X 射线/γ\gamma 射线爆发期间,使用成像 X 射线偏振探测器({\it IXPE})进行了一次 287 ksec 的观测(2022 年 11 月 27–30 日),同时辅以来自 Neil Gehrels {\it Swift} 天文台与 {\it XMM-Newton} 的软 X 射线(0.3–10~keV)波段、{\it NuSTAR} 的硬 X 射线(3–70~keV)波段,以及来自 Calar Alto 与 Perkins 望远镜天文台的可见光偏振的同期的多波段观测。我们的同期 X 射线数据表明,{\it IXPE} 能带处于耀变体低能和高能发射峰的交叉位置。该源在观测期间显示出显著变异性,我们在三个独立时间区间中测量了偏振。同期 X 射线能谱使我们能够确定各发射峰的相对贡献。我们在同步辐射通量贡献估计最高的时间区间中,测得 >99%>99\% 置信度的 X 射线偏振 Π24keV=21.77.9+5.6%\Pi_{2-4{\rm keV}} = 21.7^{+5.6}_{-7.9}\% 与电矢量偏振角 ψ24keV=28.7±8.7\psi_{2-4{\rm keV}} = -28.7 \pm 8.7^{\circ}。我们讨论了观测的可能启示,包括此前的 {\it IXPE} 对 BL Lacertae 指向,并初步得出结论:在所观测历元期间,同步自康普顿发射主导于强子发射过程。
