利用IXPE对仙后座A的X射线偏振探测

摘要

我们报告利用成像X射线偏振探测器(IXPE)对超新星遗迹仙后座A的3-6 keV偏振X射线发射的5σ\sim 5\sigma探测。在假定偏振矢量圆对称的前提下,通过对大区域求和,探测到总体偏振度1.8±0.31.8 \pm 0.3%。这些测量意味着同步辐射成分的平均偏振度约为2.5\sim 2.5%,而X射线同步辐射主导的前向激波区域接近5%。这些数值基于对热与非热辐射贡献的评估,其中我们使用了基于Chandra X射线数据的详细空间-光谱模型。逐像素的偏振搜索在3σ\sim 3\sigma置信水平下从离散区域给出若干暂定探测。鉴于像素数量,该显著性不足以宣称单个像素的探测,但意味着小于角分辨率尺度的显著湍流。Cas A的X射线连续辐射由距前向与反向激波1017\lesssim 10^{17} cm区域内同步辐射主导。我们发现:i)测得的偏振角对应于径向取向的磁场,类似于由射电观测推断的结果;ii)X射线偏振度低于射电波段(5\sim 5%)。由于激波压缩应施加切向磁场结构,IXPE结果意味着磁场在距激波1017\sim 10^{17}cm内被重新取向。若磁场排列归因于准平行激波附近局部增强的加速,优选的X射线偏振角暗示具有径向磁场的胞元尺寸为3×10163\times 10^{16} cm。
