面向未来十年能量前沿环形对撞机就绪度演示的领先技术与可行性导向(LEAF)计划白皮书

摘要

在为本届 Snowmass 2021 进程撰写的白皮书中,我们提议建立一项磁体领先技术与可行性导向计划(LEAF Program),以在未来十年时间尺度上为实现下一代对撞机决策做好准备。LEAF 计划将依托并协同目前由美国磁体发展计划(MDP)、导体采购与研发(CPRD)计划以及高能物理办公室(Office of HEP)支持的早期职业奖(ECA)或实验室定向研发(LDRD)经费资助的其他活动所涵盖的通用研发工作。在可能的情况下,我们强调并建议与美国能源部(DOE)或国家科学基金会(NSF)其他办公室的协同努力建立联系,将其作为全国范围内的更广泛协作努力。我们也提及国际努力,将其作为 LEAF 计划的潜在合作伙伴。我们设想 LEAF 计划专注于演示用于μ子对撞机以及下一代高能强子对撞机的磁体可行性,并在应用性质必要且合理时,推动从研发模型向长模型/原型的过渡。LEAF 计划将自然推动加速器质量与实验接口设计考量。LEAF 还将在必要时专注于成本降低和/或工业化步骤。
