行星何时形成？——搜寻贫金属恒星周围的系外行星

摘要
我们展示了利用NASA在凯克I望远镜上HIRES光谱仪的时间，对贫金属场矮星在1 AU以内的行星进行光谱搜索的初步结果。气态巨行星形成的核吸积模型对原材料的金属丰度敏感，而盘不稳定性模型则不敏感。通过观测场中的贫金属恒星，我们排除了在稠密恒星环境（如球状星团）中动力学相互作用的作用。我们的巡天结果应能让我们区分两种相互竞争的巨行星形成情景的相对作用。
