揭示μ-Hz频率下的引力宇宙

摘要

我们提出一个空间干涉仪,巡测毫赫兹至μ-Hz频率范围内的引力波(GW)天空。到2040年代,介于激光干涉空间天线(LISA)与脉冲星计时阵列之间的μ-Hz频率带,将构成天体物理相关GW频谱覆盖中最大的空白。然而许多与天体物理和宇宙学相关的杰出问题,最好由该波段的GW观测来回答。我们表明,μ-Hz GW探测器将成为广大科学界真正的总体性观测站,极大拓展LISA的潜力。该仪器旨在以高信噪比探测大质量黑洞双星的早期旋进,以及银河系中的低频恒星双星,将成为从太阳系邻域到高红移宇宙多信使天文学的基石。
