Recycler Ring 中反质子束的横向不稳定性

费米实验室 8 GeV Recycler Ring 中反质子束的亮度受到横向不稳定性的限制。即使在阻尼器运行的情况下，这种不稳定性也发生在将大量反质子堆栈提取至 Tevatron 的过程中。本文描述了观测到的不稳定性特征，引入了阈值相空间密度来表征束流稳定性，并发现结果与电阻壁不稳定性模型一致。观察到通过减小射频势阱深度，有效地将纵向尾部排除在 Landau 阻尼之外，从而使阈值密度降低高达两倍。
