迈向无中微子双贝塔衰变精确计算:项目范围界定研讨会报告

摘要

我们呈现美国国家科学基金会(NSF)项目范围界定研讨会的结果,其目的在于评估支配无中微子双贝塔衰变的核矩阵元计算的现状,并确定是否需对其做更多工作。在回顾有效场论、格点量子色动力学及 ab initio 核结构理论应用于双贝塔衰变的重要近期进展后,我们讨论核物理不确定性量化的前沿水平,进而为所有这些领域构建路线图,以充分补充运行中与研发中日益灵敏的实验。该路线图包含理论物理与计算物理的具体项目,以及采用贝叶斯模型混合(Bayesian Model Mixing)与双贝塔衰变率和其他可观测量间相关性分析的不确定性量化计划。本计划的目标是,在实验者关注的所有核素中,给出准确且精确的矩阵元,并附以审慎评估的不确定性。此类计算将允许从无中微子双贝塔衰变的观测或未观测中得出明确结论,无论起作用的新物理是什么。

This Project Scoping Workshop report is focused on the US context for the theory of neutrinloess double beta decay. Its authors plan to produce a journal article that addresses similar issues, but is more inclusive as regards non-US efforts on this problem. We would be happy to receive further input that will help us refine our text before it is submitted to the journal
