在过去二十年中，人们付出了大量努力来理解物理学如何在从亚核到宇宙学尺度上强制执行我们所观察到的普通拓扑和因果结构。我们回顾了拓扑审查和事件视界拓扑的现状；经典和半经典引力中的年代保护；以及在建立量子能量不等式方面的相关进展。
