TOFHIR2:CMS桶部MIP定时探测器的读出ASIC

摘要
CMS探测器将针对HL-LHC进行升级,包括一个MIP定时探测器(MTD)。MTD将由桶部和端盖定时层(分别为BTL和ETL)组成,提供带电粒子的精确定时。BTL传感器基于LYSO:Ce闪烁晶体与SiPM耦合,并使用TOFHIR2 ASIC进行前端读出。在HL-LHC整个寿命期间,每个通道在2.5 Mhit/s的速率下对MIP信号的分辨率预计为30-60 ps。我们概述了TOFHIR2的要求和设计、仿真结果以及使用TOFHIR2 ASIC进行的测量。与传感器模块相关的TOFHIR2测量是在不同的测试装置中进行的,使用内部测试脉冲或模拟实验中预期信号的蓝色和紫外激光脉冲。测量结果显示,在运行开始条件下时间分辨率为24 ps,在运行结束条件下为58 ps,与BTL要求吻合良好。我们还表明,时间分辨率在最高预期MIP速率下保持稳定。进行了广泛的辐射测试,包括X射线和重离子,结果表明TOFHIR2在实验寿命期间不受辐射环境影响。
