我们描述了TESS选取恒星进行2分钟与20秒观测的目标选取流程。我们首先列出限制目标槽位总数的TESS仪器与地面系统处理的技术要求。随后描述了TESS载荷运行中心(POC)用于合并各TESS任务单元(目标选取工作组、TESS星震科学联盟与客座研究者办公室)所申请候选目标用的算法。最后,我们总结了两年期TESS主任务期间所观测目标的性质。我们发现POC目标选取算法实际观测到的目标数为各任务单元分配目标槽位的2.1至3.4倍。我们还发现,由于要求目标在TESS视场中相对均匀分布的技术约束,观测目标的天区分布不同于候选目标的天区分布。我们提醒从事TESS行星寄主星统计分析的研究者:观测目标总体无法用输入候选目标列表中任何简单的性质准则来刻画。
