银河系中心的星际初始质量函数

巨型星体定义了星际形成过程的上限，主导其局部环境的能量动力学，并显著影响星系的化学演化。它们在浓赤星系和早期宇宙中的作用可能具有重要意义，但我们仍不知道一颗恒星可拥有的 maximum 质量，即“上限质量 cutoff”。我将讨论测量银河系中心上限质量 cutoff 和 IMF 步径的计划结果。结果表明银河系中心的 IMF 可能显著偏离 Salpeter 值，且初始质量函数可能存在约 150 太阳质量的上限质量 cutoff。
