Sloan 数字天文台巡天（SDSS）将在北半球银河盘的平面上进行约 π 平方固体角的光学和光谱调查。一组以漂移扫描模式使用的 CCD 检测器将在五个波段中对天空进行成像，至亮度为 r' ~ 23 的限值。从成像调查中挑选出的 10^6 颗星系、10^5 颗类星体以及精选的恒星样本将进行光谱观测。我描述了该调查的当前进展——该调查最近实现了首次亮相——以及其对约束宇宙中暗物质模型的前景。
