本文综述了 Type Ia 超新星 (SNe Ia) 的模型。证明 SNe Ia 代表着当这些碳氧白矿星到达坤迈克克里 limit 并在其中心点燃碳时，进行的热核毁灭。前体场景被批判性地综述了，呈现了每种场景的优势与弱点。我们认为，单生成模型——即白矿星从亚热星或巨星伴星吸积的模型——目前最受青睐。不同模型与使用 SNe Ia 确定宇宙学参数的关系也被讨论。建议的观测测试结果被提出。
