摘要
我对本特刊的主题，即（统计）物理学在社会科学领域的广泛应用进行了概述。我讨论了物理学家提出的几个简单社会模型的例子，并探讨了其意义。我认为，尽管这些模型在纠正我们对社会机制的直觉模型方面可能具有概念上的用处，但它们与真实社会系统的相关性仍值得商榷。此外，由于物理学家总是需要在实验室内部驯服世界以使其模型具有相关性，我提出社会建模可能与人类驯化有关，这是一个极具破坏性的政治项目。
