摘要
极端多信使天体物理探测台(POEMMA)旨在从空间精确观测超高能宇宙射线(UHECRs)和宇宙 neutrinos,并对整个天球具有灵敏度。POEMMA将通过大气荧光观测20 EeV以上的UHECRs和UHE中微子产生的大空气簇射(EASs)。此外,POEMMA将观测由20 PeV以上与地球相互作用的tau中微子引起的向上运动EASs的切伦科夫信号。POEMMA航天器被设计用于快速重新定向以跟进瞬态中微子源,并获得无与伦比的中微子通量灵敏度。POEMMA作为NASA天体物理探测者级任务开发,由两颗相同的卫星组成,在525 km高度轨道上以松散编队飞行。每台POEMMA仪器包含一个宽视场(45)施密特望远镜,集光面积超过6 m。每台望远镜的混合焦平面包括一个快速(1~s)近紫外相机用于EAS荧光观测,以及一个超快(10~ns)光学相机用于切伦科夫EAS观测。在5年任务中,POEMMA将提供测量,打开通往宇宙中最具能量事件的新多信使窗口,使得在这些原本不可及的能量下研究新天体物理学和粒子物理学成为可能。
