M31 最外层星系团

摘要
我们报告了在 M31 星系远端 halo 中识别新星系团的事实。该星系被命名为 Bologna 514（B514），其整合亮度为 M_V=-8.5 ± 0.6，径向速度经两个独立低分辨率光谱估计为 V_r=-456 ± 23 km/s，这充分确认其属于 M31 系统。所观测到的整合光谱与经典全球星系极其相似。位于距离 M31 中心约 4°（投影距离约 55 kpc）处的 B514 是迄今为止发现的 M31 中最遥远的星系团。其投影位置接近星系主轴，以及 M31 中心速度，可能表明它属于 Morrison 等人 (2004) 近期提出的 M31 星系团 subsystem——据称属于该星系的动力学冷薄盘。
