矮星型星系的外缘：恒星与气体

摘要
近年来，我们已将矮星系演化置于更宏大的尺度结构演化背景下观察。矮星系作为等层次星系形成的建构单元，以及宇宙中最丰富的星系，在宇宙演化中发挥着核心作用。特别是，由于其较低的引力势能和较低的星际压力，矮星型星系与外星系物料之间的相互作用必然比更大质量的盘状星系更为广泛。因此，矮星型星系的外层区域提供了关于这一相互作用区主要过程的关键线索。本次研讨会针对外层区域在矮星系演化中的作用以及更广泛后果提出了若干问题。研讨会的在线 proceedings 位于 http://www.lowell.edu/Workshops/Lowell02/
